We hated to leave as the grands have grown so much in these weeks we were gone but we needed to get home to get back to a routine again.  Andrew and Cheryl both report back to work on Monday, Cheryl at Cedar Crest, and Andrew, ironically enough, in Toronto, Canada, where he’ll be working through the end of the year.  More “international” travel for him!!
Reflections:
It was a long time to be gone but Andrew’s travel keeps our days together to the weekends.  It is our choice and it works but having nearly 7 weeks together, literally within sight except for restroom breaks(!) is great for the soul.  Even after the “incident” and Cheryl REALLY wanted to go home, Andrew was there and it was okay. :)  In Hamburg, walking in extremely close proximity to riot police with machine guns, Andrew was there and it was fine.  Another church or castle or Roman ruin or random store?  Cheryl was there and it was fine. :)  

The trip gave us a wonderful taste of Europe, a little of this and a little of that.  It was exciting, entertaining, and educational, blisters and riot police and robbery and all.  We have grown and loved every minute of it and spending that much time together was truly wonderful.  Another successful journey in the record books--soulmates and best friends, partners and lovers, forever.  Thank you, Andrew. :)  Yes, I will love you forever, to answer your “proposal” on the Rialto.

July 1 Just in case you are curious, there was still a fire in the lot out back even though it was much smaller, and there were still people there but maybe 6 or so versus the 15+ from the night before.  The pallets were still organized around the fencing and some were stacked into the pit shape with some broken ones piled high in the middle.  Something big going to happen!! It’s July already!! When did that happen!  We got up very early to make sure we’d get to the ferry on time.  It was actually nice driving as there was hardly any traffic!!  We made it with time to spare and were put in a line.  This ferry was jam packed with cars, and buses and people.  We had stopped at a “quick mart” on the way back to our room last night and got some croissants, bananas, and milk to have on the boat; some passengers opted to buy breakfast on board.  The sun actually rose about 5 AM so we were in daylight the entire time and it was gorgeous on deck....

Some things that we loved, hated, and couldn’t have done without, as well as just interesting observations.   Loves: *The food was quite yummy, even if we had no idea sometimes what we were ordering as the menu was in another language!  To luck we could figure out the “main” ingredient usually even though “chicken” or “pork” was different in each language too! *Slow pace:  it couldn’t get much slower but it set the pace for everything else.  It really was relaxing but it did take a little time to get used to the slow and then back to fast once you are home again.   *The views were amazing, whether it was city or country or somewhere between--loved the variety of the landscape and the flowers and ruins. *Europe in general has a serious commitment to wind energy and solar energy; everywhere we went were fields of windmills and solar panels, and many houses have solar panels affixed to their roofs! *We loved that some side view mirrors were autom...
